Ways to Serve at Iron Works

Whether it’s volunteering with one of the Sunday-morning service teams, getting involved in a ministry, or being available for individual needs as they arise in our community, Iron Works wants to enable you to serve in your spiritual gifts in God’s power. We don’t want you to simply fill a hole to accomplish a task!

Take a look at the opportunities below to get a sense for where you might be able to connect more deeply through serving. And, if you haven’t yet, we encourage every member of Iron Works to fill out the deacons’ updated skills survey so that we can contact you with unique opportunities for you to serve as needs arise.

 

Sunday Service Teams

Serving on a Sunday morning is a great way to find your own stake in the regular rhythms of the church and build community with people who share your gifts. Every week, these teams work to enable worship:

  • A/V team—run slides, cameras, and sound (no experience required)

  • Children's Service Activities team—preschool and school age children's church, welcome new families at the kids table, or lead Doodle dance

  • HopeCo Coffee Shop team—raise funds for our HopeCo partners by helping in a weekly full-service coffee shop before the service

  • Hospitality team—enable worship by preparing communion elements, plus prepare and keep complimentary coffee, water, and tea stocked for the service

  • Music team (audition required)

  • Nursery team—stay with our littles during the service

  • Scripture Reading team—read the sermon’s main Scripture passage (audition required)

  • Setup Team—prepare the space for worship by moving chairs, tables, signs, check-in stations, etc.

  • Sunday School—teach or assist classes before the service for kids from pre-K all the way through high school

  • Welcome team—greet people as they enter and help new visitors acclimate at the welcome table

    Aren’t sure what your gifts are? You can talk to others who know you well (like your home group!) and trial serving in a few different places to figure it out.

 

Get Involved in a Ministry

Worship doesn’t just happen on a Sunday morning. If you’d like to find ways to get involved outside of the Sunday service, check out:

  • The Phoenixville Refuge—the hands and feet of Iron Works to the Phoenixville community. Learn more here.

  • Youth Group—engage and teach IWC’s tweens and teens at biweekly weeknight meetings plus youth events. More here.

  • Women’s Ministry—the women are always busy coordinating women’s church events and Bible studies, planning the yearly retreat, throwing baby and bridal showers, and organizing diaper drives for expectant and new parents. Contact the women’s ministry leadership team (womensministry@ironworkschurch.org) to find out how you can help.

  • Men’s Ministry—lead a men’s group, help with one of the regular men’s breakfasts, or pitch in on retreat planning. Contact the church office (hello@ironworkschurch.org) for more info.

  • Missions Team—help coordinate IWC’s global missions efforts with our partners in East Africa and India and support the congregation in getting involved. Contact the team at missions@ironworkschurch.org.

  • Home Group Leader or Host—help the IWC community flourish by either leading a group or hosting one in your home. Contact the church office (hello@ironworkschurch.org) to learn about available opportunities.

Meet Needs as They Arise

The deacons serve to meet the physical needs of the IWC community, oversee outreach to Phoenixville, and maintain the church’s facilities—and they would love for you to serve with them.
