Doodle Sunday

We believe church is for kids, that we adults lose out if we don’t learn to worship alongside them. That’s why the first Sunday of the month around here is known as Doodle Sunday—a special time for all preschool and school-age kids to stay in the service with the grownups instead of going to children’s church.

Kids get to worship through intentional dancing and singing during the music. They get their own worship guide for the day, where they can draw and color in response to parts of the sermon set aside specifically for them. And at the end, if they’ve listened well, they get a prize that further helps them remember the lesson of the sermon.

On Doodle Sundays, adults learn, too—we learn to look beyond ourselves for the needs of kids, to benefit from the richness of having them in our community. And we get a chance to live out our commitment to help raise these kids who are a valued part of our church family.
